Sierra is a student at Hanover College in Hanover, Indiana. She has been active in her local and collegiate community. Her experience includes tutoring Latin American immigrant children, assisting with a Fair Trade market at Hanover, participating in multiple KI Eco Center events, working as a counselor at a social justice camp, and interning with the Indiana State Museum. She is currently a Resident Assistant at Hanover and has contributed to bringing awareness to social justice issues such as immigration, race inequality, and black history.
Project Idea: Recalling her childhood experience with food shortages and an inspired by an appreciation of sharing food with friends, family, and neighbors, Sierra plans to provide emergency food relief through her initiative, the Community Food Box Project. The Community Food Box Project provides free food, using upcycled newspaper boxes as receptacles, to urban communities in Indianapolis where there is inadequate food access.
